MAGNA

AEGWYNN

GUARDIAN OF TIRISFAL

I

f you are reading this as part of the long ass chain of events leading to the Tomb of Sargeras... we're jumping ahead in the time line.  A lot.  Ten thousand years.  No worries though.  I'll catch you up on the important bits that pertain to the bad ass known as Magna Aegwynn.

So even after the events of the War of the Ancients and the Great Sundering, the Legion is still a problem.  The night elves have put themselves in time out.  I don't even think the Eastern Kingdoms and the human race knew they existed yet.

Anyways, humans are a thing now and they have some powerful mages. They create the Order of Tirisfal, a super secret squirrel group of ridiculously powerful magi, within the ranks of the Kirin Tor in Dalaran.

See, some humans and highelves were playing around with some old summoning rituals, and summon some Burning Legion right into the streets of Dal.  Ahhhh... that's how they knew about the Legion. Ignore my previous confusion.

The only chick to ever be designated as the Guardian of Tirisfal is Aegwynn.  And she is powerful as fuck.  She is the only girl amongst the five possible apprentices of the Guardian Scavell.  She gets a lot of shit, but she turns out to be a prodigy.

Aegwynn gets her hands on the Meitre scrolls of an ancient Highborne mage, supposedly unreadable by mages until a decade or so of training. But Aeg masters them.  And so she is chosen to be the next Guardian.

And she is the shit.  Owning demons all over Azeroth.

One day (about 800 years before the opening of the Dark Portal - just for timeline reference), she heads to Northrend, cause she catches wind of a horde of demons slaying dragons.

And Aeg is like... fuck that.

So the Council is created my the magocrats ( like aristocrats... with magic ) in order to protect the world from these demon fucks.  Each archmage of the Council siphons a bit of their power into one mage, the Guardian, who will become a super powerful magical warrior to fight the Legion, unbeknownst to the citizens of the Eastern Kingdoms.

So she hauls ass to Northrend to take out the demons hunting the dragonflights.  And while there, she comes across a ridiculously powerful demonlord, calling himself Sargeras, appears before her, telling her to give up her fight, because the Legion is coming and Azeroth's days are numbered.

Aegwynn is all, fuck you bitch, and starts battling the Avatar of Sargeras.  See, Sargeras still can't get to Azeroth to destroy it and absorbs its energy, so he conjured and avatar to fuck shit up while he tries to get there.  Aeg doesn't know this though.  She thinks he's a puny god that she can totally handle.  But the battle gets intense, and she summons Atiesh, the Great Staff of the Guardian.  This used to be a legendary back in the day.

Aegwynn kicks the shit out of the Avatar of Sargeras with disconcerting ease.  The Avatar falls, and Aegwynn inters the husk within the Tomb of Sargeras, believing that the powers would be kept at bay.

But Aegwynn did not know that Sargeras latched a portion of his being deep inside the Guardian, lying in wait for centuries.  He slowly twisted her mind, making her paranoid of the Council.  She abandoned Tirisfal and began construction of her tower, a refuge known as Karazhan.

Sargeras has waited for centuries, until Aeg would eventually become pregnant, and Sargeras latched onto the soul of the child who would come to be known as Medivh, the Last Guardian.

So Aeg has gone rogue, so the Council creates the Tirisguarde to hunt her down and strip her of her power.  One of the battlemages sent after her is Neilas Aran.  It's typical cat and mouse for years, but they -of course- fall in love. They decide to create an heir... a future Guardian that the Council cannot control.

But Medivh is a tale for another post.

So now we have a Tomb of Sargeras with a Fallen Avatar which we will kill, cause we are... okish.  I'll get to Medivh, the Last Guardian, and the opening of the Dark Portal.  But I've done a lot of posts this week.

I'm tired.
